Congratulations Class of 2020
Generation Prodigy is extremely excited to feature Victor from African Centered Preparatory Academy! He is smart, insightful, strong and a servant leader. This young man rose to the occasion academically, graduating to the 9th grade with 7 As and 5 Bs! Personally, I am proud of this young man and want to congratulate his mom as well. He desires to go to college and play NFL football. He may manage some teams too! He has law potential! Help us celebrate Mr. Victor! #IMa

School Blues: The Teacher
Many teens have issues with their teachers. Teachers can become hard to deal with, and frustrating. In my situation, my algebra teacher had an issue with my "so called" attitude and refused to change my grade. I had a rough morning last week before I arrived to school, and my mouth had gotten me into a lot of trouble. Trying to resolve the problem, I apologized to my teacher, but she wasn’t taking it. My teacher told me I couldn’t come in to fix my grade or do missing work

Teen Talk
It is amazing how parents cry out for help to assist their children, but struggle with accepting help when it comes. Help comes in varying forms. Sometimes it is presented in the form of peer groups. Some of the best support comes from individuals who are within the same age group and have experienced the same challenges. I want to encourage parents to listen to their teens & tweens. If they appear withdrawn, engage them with a loving tone. If they appear to be snippy wit

You Matter.
As we prepare for the 2019-20 school year, youth are still concerned about bullying. The same bullies students had to face last year, may be present again this year. Bullying takes place in so many forms. Youth are being teased for being smart, modest, caring, even if they are minding their own business. One of the latest and more prevalent forms is through social media and texts (although youth shouldn't have their phones in the classroom IJS). There are youth who believe

The Journey Continues: Washington, D.C.
We had such a great experience touring from the subway to the Lincoln Memorial. Cheryl Maddox was one of our board members and chaperones who joined us as we witnessed the beauty and construction maintenance of D.C. Although the sun was blazing, we had a great learning experience. This was the students first time riding on a subway and walking for miles everyday, viewing and experiencing historical sites. #GPTours #Youth #generationprodigy #learningcanbefun #learningisfun #

Emojis 😁 😍 😒 😩 😳 😭
The 21st Century Teen face emotional battles that the 20th Century Teen never had to face 🙈. For example, if someone at school started a rumor about you in 1996 👀, the only people who knew were school mates and the possible friends and teacher/coach of the gossiper 😒 (BTW, we had landline phones and beepers back then 😳). Fast forward to 2019, when someone gossips, that rumor is spread to the world through social media and the world can now judge you 😩. Kalin's point, "
A Little GP Love ❤️
Youth are often the catalyst of change. Change is possible because of hope. Hope is sustained by the encouragement of mentors and finances, which fuels the young carriers of change. Each student of Generation Prodigy are groomed to be a world/global changer. We fuel them with cultural experiences, experiential learning and positive adult interactions. The days can be challenging, but we are committed to providing the love needed to love themselves and help them cope with
